Flying Away is one of a growing number of "flying carpets" I've created over the last 35 years or so.
The image of a flying carpet symbolizes, for me, freedom, escape, and transcendence.
This"carpet" is made from two oil paintings I painted years ago that I cut up to form leaves. The leaves are
attached to a hardware cloth form. Nature is prominent in my work. The "leaves" could also be feathers.
