This image was made during a session in which the artist and sitters engaged in a ritual to send a message to someone the sitter knew who had passed away. The artist conceived the ritual, which lasts about 1½ hours. The exhibited image is a digital document of the original medium which is a 4"x5" black metal plate hand-coated with silver gelatin emulsion that was double exposed by the artist in a 4x5 view camera and then hand-developed by the sitter under the artist's direction during the session. It would be ideal if accompanying the image there could be a small wall text area that would have the letter typed out so viewers can read the letter easily as on the image the writing is backwards.
