This is my biggest watercolor painting to date and pushed my skills to new levels. Sketching was labor intensive and once the paint hit paper I could not stop! I had clicked several dahlia photos at The Butchart Gardens years ago and this was on my list of must paint some day. Crescent watercolor board lends itself very well to both layering and blending colors on the paper itself. Once the surface is sealed and varnished, the painting can be framed without glass which makes it more cost effective and safer to handle at that size.
